VOIP Security on the Rise

VOIP is on its way to being a more secure industry. In the past, security hasn’t been a high priority for the new technology. The criminal minds tend to focus on the largest market available. With VOIP subscribers on the rise, the thieves are starting to pay attention.
BorderWare Technologies has announced new security technology for VOIP. The company will introduce an evolution of the traditional session border controller (SBC) call SIPassure. It combines features of SBC with a traditional firewall and also the awareness of an Application Layer Gateway.
This unique approach to protecting VOIP runs on standard operation systems such as Solaris and Linux. This will help cut down on costs for service providers and enterprise markets, and these savings are sure to trickle down to the end users as well.
The expansion of the VOIP market has raised the interest of criminals around the world. Their increased interest has increased the awareness of the providers who are now looking for unique ways to protect VOIP and other services from attacks like toll fraud, service interruption, and Spam over Internet Telephony (SPIT).
BorderWare Technologies has teamed up with several companies to develop the VOIP security, including Sun Micro Systems Radware, Lign Up Corporation, Mite Corporation, and now Marconi.
VOIP security will continue to evolve as the attacks on the industry multiply. Companies such as BorderWare will have to stay on the cutting edge in order to beat the creativity of the criminal.
