70% of firms will use VoIP

A new study by Coleman Parkes Research forecasts that seven out of ten global businesses could be regularly using VoIP on mobile devices over the next two years.

The study, which questioned 200 CIOs at enterprise companies across the UK, Europe and the US, found that more businesses are using data applications on mobile handsets, and more are also using a greater variety of applications.

Coleman Parkes found that over 90 percent of companies already use mobile email, internet and calendar applications.

The report did, however, identify problems with the management of mobile devices, which could prevent the benefits of VoIP, such as increased productivity, being fully realised.

Effective management of mobile devices is perceived by businesses as a key factor in improving productivity through mobile technology.

The study found that around 82 per cent of companies believe that managing devices more effectively could lead to a higher increase in productivity.

Seventy-nine per cent of those questioned believed that the operator should improve network and device management.
