Griffin releases product to prioritise VoIP

Griffin Internet, a Derby based VoIP manufacturer, has launched ‘Engineered Broadband - Single Priority’ (EB-SP), which aims to increase the reliability of VoIP calls.
EB-SP allows administrators of a network to speed the flow of data by giving certain types of traffic priority on IPStream broadband lines.
The administrator can assign special importance to VoIP services which will then be allocated more bandwith. This should improve both the quality of calls and the stability of the connection - making it less likely that conversations will be interrupted mid-sentence.
Tests carried out by Griffin on the product show that it improves the quality of VoIP calls in both directions, even on a line dedicated to this use.
This is because the application is given priority across the entire Griffin network and also the interconnect to the VoIP provider.
The benefits are even more pronounced on a line that carries other Internet traffic, such as email and web traffic as well as VoIP.
Griffin is offering EB-SP free until the end of October 2007, so that customers can experiment with the product risk-free.
