8×8, Inc., originator of the Packet8 Broadband Phone Service, has announced several improvements to its Packet8 VoIP services.

In particular, the Packet8 Freedom Unlimited residential calling service has been expanded to include unlimited calls to regular, non-mobile numbers in locations such as France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Puerto Rico, Guam and the US Virgin Islands, in addition to unlimited calls to other subscribers worldwide.

Previously, the service only covered local and long distance in North America. 8×8 also announced the reduction of the monthly fee for its Packet8 Freedom Unlimited Global international calling plan from $49.99 to $29.99. The charge for the expanded Freedom Unlimited residential calling plan remains unchanged at $24.99.

8×8’s Packet8 residential service plans include a 30-day money-back guarantee and robust features like call-forwarding, call-waiting, voicemail to email, 3-way calling, and caller ID.

8×8 is one of the industry’s leading voice over internet protocol and videophone communications service providers. Since its establishment in 1987, 8×8 has contributed to the advancement of voice and video communications on both technology and service provision levels. The company currently holds 49 United States patents with additional patents pending.
