Truphone improves global Wi-Fi access via Quiconnect

Truphone is licensing technology from Quiconnect, which will automatically log on Truphone customers to global Wi-Fi hotspots and networks, without requiring passwords, accounts or subscriptions with local operators.
The agreement will significantly broaden international public Wi-Fi access for Truphone customers, and will complement Truphone’s existing public Wi-Fi access.
Truphone users will be able to log in at thousands of public Wi-Fi locations worldwide, including hotels, airports, conference centres, coffee shops and train stations.
Automating the hotspot log-in process will make it quicker and easier for customers to make mobile VoIP calls in public places.
Quiconnect’s Connector software will be embedded into Truphone’s own solution, including the credentials and scripts required to log on.
This allows the handsets to be automatically authenticated at public Wi-Fi locations, eliminating the need for users to input login details manually.
The technology ensures that Truphone customers are charged only when they make VoIP calls, not when they log on.
Truphone’s service is available over Nokia mobile phones.
