WiFiMobile takes control with own VoIP client

VoIP provider, WiFiMobile, is promoting the benefits of having its own VoIP client - oneFone - as opposed to relying on Network Operators to supply handsets with the manufacturer’s VoIP client pre-installed.
WiFiMobile has developed oneFone as a stand-alone application which allows a mobile user to benefit from a VoIP service, even if a Network Operator removes the manufacturer’s client.
This scenario presented problems for users of the top-of-range Nokia N95 in April this year, when Vodafone and Orange removed the built in VoIP capabilities from the handset.
This caused VoIP services which relied on the standard VoIP client being installed, to stop operating.
Despite concern from VoIP providers, the Open Mobile Terminal Platform decided, in June this year, that operators are entitled to remove or lock down VoIP applications on subsidised handsets during minimum contract period.
WiFiMobile has overcome this problem with oneFone, which provides VoIP functionality even if the Network Operator removes the standard client.
The company has also introduced new features to its service, including Presence, which allows users to see who in online. WiFiMobile is also working on introducing call conferencing.
The software also allows Enterprise users to integrate their Nokia devices as extensions of a corporate IP PBX system.
