Puma adopts SwyxWare IP telephony

Sportswear firm Puma has connected its UK operations with SwyxWare IP telephony. The new system replaced the company’s ageing BT Meridien telephone system.

The system was installed at all of Puma’s offices and links Puma’s head office in Leatherhead with a distribution centre in Batley, Yorkshire and a showroom in Manchester.

It has allowed Puma to consolidate two separate receptions into one, based at its Batley site.

Puma chose the system from Swyx because it is totally IP-based, fulfils all of the company’s selection criteria and can be supported in house.

The system provides call routing, something which was not possible with the Meridian telephone system. This ensures that no calls are lost and also provides greater flexibility as sales staff can work from remote locations.

The system allows Puma to handle voice as a standard business application which can be integrated into its existing IT infrastructure. Lotus Notes has already been integrated, and Puma’s order processing system will be integrated in the future.

Puma expected to gain a return on its investment in the short to medium term.
