Timico, a UK-based communications provider, has entered into a partnership with Nortel to provide a hosted VoIP service for SMEs.

The system incorporates a PC-based multimedia voice and video application, which fully integrates with the Microsoft Outlook messaging and collaboration client.

Users can make VoIP calls with one click of a mouse within the Microsoft Outlook business application.

If the call is made between two Timico VoIP for Business users, the system is able to indicate if the person being called is available, busy or away from their desk.

The PC-based phone, within the VoIP solution, is established on Nortel’s Application Server 5200 (AS5200) platform.

The system works with either a Timico recommended headset or a Nortel desktop telephone handset.

The service is fully hosted by Timico, freeing SMEs from the need to purchase and maintain costly equipment.
