Survey finds over half of UK companies use VoIP

Extreme Networks Inc and Data Integration recently polled 115 UK firms which employ more than 500 people and found that over half of them (59 per cent) now run IP telephony on their Lan.
The uptake of IP video technologies is lagging behind IP telephony, with only 32 per cent of companies found to be using IP video.
This could suggest that there is an increasing need to educate companies in the benefits of running a converged network, such as lower costs and improved efficiency.
The results, from Extreme Networks’ and Data Integration’s first annual voice and video over IP customer satisfaction survey, also showed that most businesses were ’satisfied’ with their VoIP services and 88 per cent ‘happy’ with them.
Eighty-five percent of companies using IP video were ‘happy’ with their deployments, and a further 27.2% of UK businesses are expected to deploy VoIP solutions in the next three years.
Extreme Networks Inc is a provider of Ethernet infrastructure solutions, and Data Integration, an IT services and integration company.
