Alliance Communications, a Bristol-based VoIP provider, has merged with Midas Telecom.

The companies will continue to trade in south west England as Alliance, and in the rest of the UK as a new company, AMI Solutions Ltd. Midas will trade independently in mainland Europe.

The merger will provide Midas with a strong regional base to provide enterprises in the south west with focused services.

At the moment Alliance’s business is divided evenly between VoIP and traditional telephone services, but the company anticipates more emphasis on VoIP as broadband connectivity becomes more robust and less expensive.

The merged company will focus on providing integrated voice and data solutions to SMBs, initially in South West England, and than nationally.

The merger will allow Alliance to further develop its technology. The company has over 200 business customers in the south west region.

Midas Telecom provides low cost communications to HM Forces personnel overseas. It has invested substantially in managed voice and data services and advanced IP solutions and has over 10,000 domestic and business customers in Spain and Germany, as well as more than 1,000 in the UK.
