Velofone, a Global Mobile Service Provider, has launched a data roaming service which allows business travellers to download data to a laptop, at a low cost, from locations such as airports and hotels.

The company has also made its Velofone Mobile service available on the Nokia E65 and E61i handsets, as well as on the HTC S620.

The Velofone Data Roaming service uses the company’s IP network to access data on the move in 60,000 Velofone Wi-Fi hotspots around the world. For £10 a month, users can have unlimited downloads.

The service uses Wi-Fi hotspots and bypasses the GSM network, to deliver low cost international roaming charges.

Velofone Mobile handsets automatically connect to the company’s IP network when they are in range of hotspot, and will revert to making calls on the user’s normal mobile when out of range.

The Velofone Mobile service is priced at £4.99 a month for the UK-only, and a £10 add-on will extend the service internationally.
