NetMotion Wireless has released version 8.0 of Mobility XE, its mobile virtual private network (VPN) software, allowing it to be used by enterprises for the deployment of streaming video and VoIP.

Mobility XE, which was designed for Windows smartphones, provides mobile workers with secure connections to applications via laptops and mobile devices, even when travelling in areas with no wireless coverage and moving between networks.

Mobility XE is now used by over 1,200 corporate users.

The updated version provides streaming video and VoIP with no loss of quality, even over wireless networks prone to high packet loss.

It achieves this through packet loss recovery and compression features which enhance streaming video quality over multiple wireless networks, enabling video-conferencing services, video feeds and other applications.

With more than 70 percent of companies planning to use IP telephony within the next two years according to the Yankee Group, it will become increasingly important for organisations to be able to deliver VoIP calls via disparate wireless networks.

NetMotion Wirelesses updated Mobility XE product makes this possible without requiring any modifications to customers’ VoIP software.
