Truphone Anywhere provides VoIP calls over GSM

The newly-launched version 4.0 of the Truphone client includes ‘Truphone Anywhere’, which enables internet calls over a standard GSM network.

As GSM is the most popular standard for mobile phones in the world, the ‘Truphone Anywhere’ service is aptly named.

When a mobile phone user makes a call outside of Wi-Fi coverage, Truphone Anywhere routes the call onto the GSM mobile network, providing international calls at local rates.

The service does not involve a calling card, or access number - customers just dial and save.

With Truphone Anywhere it costs just 30p to make a 10 minute call from the UK to a landline in Australia, compared with £5.00 to make the same call with Orange Pay Monthly.
