3 Skypephone upgrade rumoured

Pictures are emerging of an ugrade to 3’s Skypephone, a 3G mobile phone which allows users to make free Skype to Skype VoIP calls and send free Skype instant messages to other Skype users.

The images of the upgraded version were published on ‘Just Another Mobile Phone Blog’, following approval of the device by US communications regulator, the Federal Communications Commission.

The phone is believed to be codenamed the ‘WMA8709′ and called the ‘IMP2′.

The phone’s camera seems to have been upgraded to 3.2MP, and the device still offers Wi-Fi although the 3G functionality seems to have disappeared.

However, this could be because the images are of a version destined for the US only.
