KT Networks smartphone uses GIPS HD VoIP

KT Networks’ new smartphone is to include an HD VoIP service powered by Global IP Solutions (GIPS), it emerged this week.
The Windows Mobile smartphone from the Korean telecoms provide was developed to address a rapid growth in consumer demand for high-end handsets.
KT Networks said it chose GIPS to power the VoIP service on the smartphone because “GIPS was able to handle all the complex voice processing tasks that met KT Networks exacting standards.”
Requirements for the VoIP service included providing superior voice quality over a busy network.
GIPS said its VoIP solutions will make KT Networks stand above the crowd in the South Korean handset market.
“Our technology will enable KT Networks to clearly differentiate themselves from the competition by providing HD voice capabilities on a mobile phone,” said Emerick Woods, GIPS CEO.
KT Networks is part of KT, formerly Korea Telecom, South Korea’s leading fixed-line telephone and high speed Internet provider.
GIPS technology for processing real-time voice and video over IP is used worldwide by millions of consumers every day.
