VoIP installation and testing has suddenly become faster and easier, with the introduction of the industry’s first dedicated installation and maintenance tool for VoIP/UC.

UC Testbook, designed by the same team who created the original “Trend aurora” product line, has proved to be a valuable asset when testing SIP or H.323 trunks, PABXs and Call Managers, VoIP Terminals and Infrastructure.

Designed with the needs of and demands placed upon VoIP engineers and technicians in mind, UC Testbook is a small, rugged, Netbook-based test tool, ideal for use in cramped server rooms.

Its touch screen, GUI interface, one button testing and stored test profiles facility makes it easy to use, providing support for SIP and H.323 protocols.

Its VoIP entity replacement mode means the UC Testbook can emulate different VoIP infrastructure components, quickly identifying those services and products which are not performing correctly.

Julian Russell, co-founder of Testbook, says that initial trials, held by engineers on client sites, indicate that Testbook is set to revolutionise the industry.

“UC Testbook has been thoroughly tested and gave an outstanding performance in trials”, he states.

“On site, an engineer or technician must ensure they are as unobtrusive as possible, causing miminum disruption to operations and be fast and efficient; leaving the client with a fully functional system if possible and a sense of satisfaction at a job well done.

“By using Testbook, they stand a much better chance of ticking all those boxes”.

With additional features including a network tool which identifies connectivity issues; a call generator to test signalling integrity, a sequential call mode to test the quality and capacity of VoIP trunks and links and support of up to 30 simultaneous calls through the multi-threaded virtual terminal, the Testbook looks set to become an essential part of the VoIP engineer’s toolkit.
